Sapa Hill Tribe Trek, Vietnam
08 Jan 2008
Sue Tilson, registered nurse at Helen Ley, is undertaking this challenge to raise funds for the Helen Ley Garden Upgrade project. She needs to raise at least £2,850 and is planning to do this through sponsorship, boot sales, evening entertainments, etc.
The challenge involves trekking around 17km a day through one of the most densely populated hill tribe areas of Vietnam. Sapa is a rugged area with terraces, rolling hills, deep valleys and rice fields. Rivers will be crossed using primitive aerial ropeways and old suspension bridges. Nights will be spent camping either in tents or in bamboo huts with local villagers.
